1673-RP: REVISION OF THE ASHRAE HVAC DESIGN GUIDE FOR TALL COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS
The HVAC Design Guide for Tall Buildings was published to serve a growing community of clients, owners, Architects and Engineers involved in the design of tall buildings in 2004. There is no other guide for tall buildings. The request to revise the HVAC Design Guide for Tall Buildings was made by ASHRAE Special Publications 2010.  Revising the design guide will keep the ASHRAE community abreast with the present developments in tall buildings and their HVAC systems. Since 2004 there have been significant changes in the design of tall buildings (see background)

Presentations

Do Tall, Super Tall and Mega Tall Buildings Consume More Energy Than Conventional Buildings or Do They Conserve More Energy?
Join us in Orlando for Conference Paper Session 3 on Sunday, January 24 from 9:45-10:45 AM in the Orange Ballroom F!
Track: International Design
Nearly all new tall, super tall and mega tall buildings are required to comply with Energy Codes and therefore the energy performance calculations become critical.  This seminar looks at specifics associated with modeling of tall buildings and compliance with various energy codes.  It also provides information on the Energy Use Index (EUI) of tall buildings and what the expectancies are when designing and modeling such intricate buildings and systems.
Speakers: Mehdi Jalayerian and Stephen Ray
